Initiatives
South of Downtown Community Development Organization (SDCDO) works to expand the participation of a wide range of community stakeholders to improve safety, housing, and neighborhood infrastructure. SDCDO focuses efforts on neighborhood services; healthy and affordable housing; arts and culture; equitable opportunities in education; and job skills and workforce development for residents living in the Everett and Near South neighborhoods.
Collective Impact Lincoln
Collective Impact Lincoln (CIL) creates lasting, meaningful, resident-led investment and positive change in Lincoln’s core neighborhoods. Through canvassing, community events, and Community Builder Workshops, CIL helps neighbors examine their communities’ natural strengths and identify new ways to improve. CIL is a partnership between Civic Nebraska, Nebraska Appleseed, and the South of Downtown Community Development Organization made possible by Woods Charitable Fund’s 2017 Breakthrough Initiative Grant. CIL focuses on Belmont, Clinton, Everett, Hartley, Near South, and University Place neighborhoods.

CenterPointe Redevelopment Project
South of Downtown Community Development Organization acquired the property located at 1000 South 13th Street (the CenterPointe site) with the hopes to redevelop the site after CenterPointe relocated to its new facility. The CenterPointe site has the potential to be a transformative project for local residents by developing a mixed-use project that results in residential opportunities for an array of local residents (with household incomes ranging from 30% to 120% of AMI) and public-facing commercial space sufficient to host a tenant with a good reputation of providing subsidized health, social, and/or educational services to the public-at-large.
